Tacos with Ground Beef Recipe

Ingredients
  

For the Ground Beef Filling

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 medium tomato diced
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste optional
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup water or beef stock
  • Crunchy taco shells
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

For the Guacamole

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 small tomato finely diced
  • 1 small red onion finely diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh coriander chopped
  • Optional: chili flakes

For the Creamy Taco Sauce

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Pinch of chili flakes optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato, tomato paste, spices, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in water or stock and simmer for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
  6. Mash avocados in a bowl and mix with lime juice, tomato, onion, salt, and coriander.
  7. Whisk all creamy sauce ingredients until smooth and chill.
  8. Warm taco shells according to package instructions.
  9. Fill shells with ground beef, top with cheese, guacamole, and coriander.
  10. Drizzle with creamy taco sauce or serve on the side.
