Ingredients

  • 8 oz spaghetti
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ cup reserved pasta water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (optional)
  • Grated parmesan cheese optional

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente according to package instructions.
  3. Reserve ¼ cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-low heat.
  5. Add sliced garlic and cook gently until soft and lightly golden. Do not let it burn.
  6. Add red pepper flakes if using.
  7. Add the cooked spaghetti to the pan and toss well.
  8. Pour in a little pasta water to help coat the pasta smoothly.
  9. Season with salt and mix well.
  10. Remove from heat, garnish with parsley and parmesan if desired.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overcook the garlic — burnt garlic tastes bitter.
  • Add shrimp, chicken, or mushrooms for extra protein.
  • A squeeze of lemon adds a fresh twist.
